5 things that must happen at WWE Extreme Rules: Former champion to return; superstar to debut
WWE Extreme Rules 2021 is just a few nights away. So far, WWE has announced only one match with the extreme rules stipulation. However, many big championship matches are set to take place on Sunday.
The current card sees Alexa Bliss challenging Charlotte Flair for the RAW Women’s Championship. WWE might make the bout into an Alexa’s Playground Match.
Universal Champion Roman Reigns will go head to head with “The Demon” Finn Balor for the first time in his career. Both men are undefeated on the main roster in their current gimmicks.
Meanwhile, Bianca Belair will get her SummerSlam rematch and challenge Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
The Usos will put their SmackDown Tag Team Championships on the line against The Street Profits. Damian Priest will defend his US Title against Sheamus and Jeff Hardy in a triple threat match.
With that being said, take a look at five things that must happen at Extreme Rules this year.
#5. Damian Priest retains his United States Championship at Extreme Rules
— WWE (@WWE) September 21, 2021
Damian Priest will defend his United States Championship against two top RAW Superstars at WWE Extreme Rules. Priest has had a good rivalry with Sheamus over the past several weeks.
Jeff Hardy recently entered the title picture after fans criticized WWE for making the legend chase the 24/7 Championship. Hardy lost his title match against The Archer of Infamy a couple of weeks ago but defeated Sheamus last week.
While fans will want to see Jeff Hardy take home the title, WWE must allow Priest to retain the United States Championship at Extreme Rules. The Archer of Infamy has done an excellent job on RAW and is looking to elevate the mid-card.
WWE can continue testing Priest with the United States Championship for longer before moving him to the top-tier.
#4. Alexa Bliss must win the RAW Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules
Alexa Bliss will challenge WWE RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at WWE Extreme Rules, which Flair won from Nikki A.S.H. at WWE SummerSlam.
The Queen has recently had short reigns with the top titles of the company. It seems WWE is busier in increasing her title count than giving her a meaningful reign.
Meanwhile, Alexa Bliss hasn’t won the RAW Women’s Championship since June 2018. She has been one of the top performers in the company, but she has not managed to pick up a significant victory in a long time.
Bliss has done an excellent job with her new character, and she could look to turn her fortunes with the help of Lily. At Extreme Rules, WWE must reward The Goddess during the championship match.

Bliss should be allowed to pick up a big victory at the pay-per-view and take home the title. Her victory would allow a few new challengers to come up post-Extreme Rules.
#3. Joseph Fatu helps The Usos defeat The Street Profits at WWE Extreme Rules
— WWE (@WWE) September 12, 2021
WWE has signed a few new faces to the company in recent months. At Extreme Rules, one of WWE’s latest signees could play a vital role.
The Usos will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The Street Profits at Extreme Rules. The Usos came close to a loss at the challengers’ hands a few weeks ago until Roman Reigns interfered.
Jimmy and Jey also lost their match to Finn Balor and WWE Champion Big E last week. At Extreme Rules, the twins could use some help.
Joseph Fatu joined WWE just a couple of months ago. Joseph is The Usos’ real-life brother, and he could play a significant role in their match at Extreme Rules.

WWE should allow the newcomer to debut on Sunday and interfere in the SmackDown Tag Team match. Joseph could attack Ford or Dawkins behind the referee’s back and help The Usos retain their titles.
It will be the perfect way to debut as the newest member of The Bloodline.
#2. WWE must protect “The Demon” at Extreme Rules
Finn Balor’s alter-ego, “The Demon King,” will fight Roman Reigns at WWE Extreme Rules for the Universal Championship.
The company has protected the Demon character for a long time. Balor has never been defeated as The Demon on the main roster. Only Samoa Joe has pinned The Demon in WWE NXT.
Surprisingly, WWE wants to put Balor up against Roman Reigns in an extreme rules match he will likely lose. The creative team must look to protect The Demon from picking up a clean loss at the hands of Roman Reigns at all costs.
Even though Reigns is the top superstar, WWE must not compromise Demon King’s credibility. The character is one of the few in WWE that has not been overexposed until now.
Therefore, the match must end with some significant interference or illegal tactics to protect Balor and leave the door open for another rematch down the line. Handing Balor a clean loss at Extreme Rules would be a big mistake.
#1. Brock Lesnar beats down Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules
At WWE Extreme Rules, Roman Reigns will likely retain his Universal Championship, given that he has a big match at Crown Jewel.
Reigns had some of the best bookings in WWE over the past year. The creative team has built challengers for him with ease and solidified his stance as the top heel.
Even though Reigns is likely to retain his title at the PPV, WWE must ensure that he is completely decimated. Brock Lesnar must attack the Tribal Chief after the match.
The angle will put Reigns on the backfoot for the first time in his current title reign. The attack will also make the champion look vulnerable ahead of Crown Jewel.
WWE needs to put Reigns in a tough spot heading into the Saudi Arabian pay-per-view, where he will collide with The Beast Incarnate.
