Carlito Reveals Why He Left WWE, Says Shawn Michaels Didn’t Like Him
Former WWE Superstar Carlito has opened up about the time he was released by the company back in 2010, and has revealed that he wasn’t too popular with two of the biggest names in the locker room at that time.
In a recent interview on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Carlito re-iterated that he had wanted to leave WWE in 2010 because he had become disillusioned with the creative direction of his character.
“You can see when things are taking a downturn and aren’t going to go in your favor. So I was trying to get out early, before things got worse,” the Puerto Rican wrestler said. “I realized they weren’t going to use me. I always go around in the back asking everybody, but nobody would tell me to my face what their issue was with me and that’s kind of what got me so angry. I’d go to the writers and ask ‘what’s the deal with me?’ And they go ‘no, everything is fine.’,” he continued.
“I always said it’s better to go away and then come back. So my plan was always to go back, but I just, I wanted to get away while I still had a name and not burn any bridges. Sometimes things don’t work out like that.”
Shawn Michaels Did Not Like Carlito
The former United States Champion was also asked about his relationship with Triple H. Apparently Triple H didn’t care for Carlito, but never expressed any resentment towards him face-to-face. However, Triple H’s friend and WWE legend Shawn Michaels was allegedly very honest with Carlito and told the younger talent that he didn’t like him.
“I respected Shawn Michaels because he was the only one that told me to my face that he didn’t like me,” Carlito said.
As you might recall, Carlito was released by WWE in 2010. At the time, the company said Carlito had been released for violating its wellness policy and refusing to seek treatment.
